Languages
Language is a very important word. Not even a word, just in general, language is the key to all
communication. It’s actually pretty amazing if you think deeply into the idea and how it truly is our main and only
form of communication.
No matter what language you are using, you are using it every day between your family, peers,
and colleagues. There are so many different kinds of languages so that people all over the world can communicate
with one another whether it be in person, in writing, or even through electronics. A person could not go one day
without using language.
Language is not a singular term. Every culture has their own specific language in order to
communicate with their loved ones. What you are reading right now is a language, English, most commonly used by Americans. If you traveled
to Spain you would see a lot of interaction between the population, using Spanish as their main form of language. To facilitate
communication between the different languages, a translation from Spanish to
English is often needed.
Language is something that separates cultures but also unites them in the sense that they may be
speaking different languages, however, they are still using language as their way of communication. Americans may
be very different from Spanish citizens, yet they are both using language to communicate even though the languages
are different they all have equal meaning.
Along with the number of types of languages, there are also many ways to go about using
language. Language is used orally when people speak to each other about whatever it may be in person or even over
the phone.
Language is used when a letter is written from one person to another in order to communicate
with them professionally or even just socially. More commonly these days, language is used to communicate through
electronics whether it be an email, a text, or a posting on a blog or social network. Without language we would not
have all of these popular technological forms of communication.
Language truly is our key source of communication. Without language we wouldn’t have
relationships, or anything else that requires plenty of communication. What would one do with their cell phone?
There would be no reason to call or text someone without having a language. In total, language is one word, yet it
is such an amazing thing that brings together societies. It is wonderful how such a small concept makes such a huge
difference to the world.
